A lot of times I am asked this question by visitors new to and unfamiliar with message forums. They are confused what's-what and this hinders their ability to navigate throught the forum. Catagories....This is the first line under the Forum Name. It refers to a TOPIC which all the Boards created there will be about. As an example the Catagory you are currently reading this under is called "How to use this Forum and Frequently Asked Questions". Only the Admins can create Catagories. Boards...are the topics of discussions listed under each catagory. The board that this is listed on is called "FAQ's". Only Admins are allowed to created Boards. Threads...Under each Board members will be allowed to create "Threads". These are topics for discussion which relate to to actual Board your are creating it for. Threads can be created by most everyone unless the Admin has blocked or otherwise locked the Boards to prevent it. Threads are where others will be able to reply to your comments. You would create a Thread by clicking on this Icon Posts. Once you click on or creatae a Thread, you will be able to create a new Post or Reply to a current Post. To reply to a post click on this icon So to sum it up the hierarchy of a Forum looks like this: Catagory ....-> Board ........-> Threads ............-> Posts. Hope this explanation helps and does not confuse you even more.
